The snooker club was originally formed in 1983 at the corn exchange in church walk this was the first in stowmarket and became extremely popular with the town with it being open almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a week the venue just wasn't able to cope with the demand, so in 1985 it moved to stowupland street where it still remains today.
the club started out as just a snooker club with 16 full sized tables and 2 private hire rooms also for snooker.
In 1989 through lack of interest it was decided that some squash courts would be installed the name was then changed to stowmarket snooker and squash club. The club continued with this for a further 5 years.
In march 1995 it was decided that a 7 snooker table room would be formed and a large function suite would be installed which would be available for private hire, the name then changed once more to Riverside snooker and social centre which it still remains today although many of you will just know it as "Riverside"
In 2005 the club was brought by Robert and His father Don and has gone from strength to strength proving more popular than ever.
